Statement of Commitment
My name is Prem Luitel, a
citizen of Nepal.I’ve been living in Canberra since the 20th of May 2018. I moved to Canberra with my so-called family with a dream to live and settle here happily ever after and for the same I found this place silently promising.
The topography of Canberra has always fascinated me and has already embedded a feeling of home. I have noticed this location is comparatively unique, surrounded by mountains, forests, grasslands, rivers, and lake and on top of it, the majority of the landscapes are still open for creativity, which makes me feel more close to nature. The way this city has been designed especially with its transportation facilities is another appealing aspect for me to commit living in Canberra. The majority of my car trips back and forth to the major cities take me 20 minutes or less including traffic. Comparatively with Sydney, as I moved from there, I have found myself in a very exciting and calm place as I can notice I have been able to cut off my traveling time as it has less traffic. On top of this, recently introduced Railway service has a significant impact on my daily life. It’s more convenient, safe and quick for me to travel to my workplace and also to visit the city. In addition, it is one of the best cycling cities in Australia. As a cycle lover and with an extensive network dedicated bicycle tracks, trails, and on-road bicycle lanes, this has become another appealing aspect of Canberra which triggers a feeling of home. With one less car a choice of riding on-road, on sealed cycle paths around the city, on walking paths through parks and forests, past national attractions, around lakes, into connecting suburbs and off-road into the surrounding countryside gives me an opportunity to respire to feel the nature.
Supportive community welcomes new people, new ideas and new ways of doing things that generate a positive vibe and gets me more connected with society and makes me feel like a part of a family. Community is crucial for the support of families and Canberra has a number of ways to connect families with each other through playgroups, family events, and activities. Therefore, raising a family here for me is already promising and exciting. As I am an Engineering Technologist by Profession, I have seen a very bright future of mine, and my family here in Canberra. Being still developing, Canberra has a lot more for me to offer and I am already thankful for its being.Being a responsible member of this society, I would like to declare my commitment to live and work in Canberra for at least two years to abide with the law. On top of it, I promise to come up with innovative ideas that will be in the welfare and interest of the community and nothing will be taken just for granted. Amor
