HEAD OUT FOR THE HILLS AROUND KATHMANDU
I don’t believe hai hiking is all bout gearing up and heading out to the wilderness. Grab a bottle of water and head out for the hills around Kathmandu.
Nagarjun:
Located just fifteen minutes away from the chaotic Balaju, Nagarjun danda offers an excellent day-long retreat, with lush green vegetation and even wildlife if you are lucky. Head up for three-hour-long hike uphill or just take your bike but hiking is strongly good for enjoyment. But be careful nowadays crime-related incidents mean that you shouldn't hike alone.
Things to do: Visit the Jamacho Stupa, inhale the pollution free fresh air, see the Nagarjun palace or just scream on top of your lungs from the top feels goods. Like screaming out loud.
Shivapuri:
It is the nearest national park from the Valley; Shivapuri National Park is located 12km away from Kathmandu city centre and is just a microbus-ride away. Don't forget to take along edibles and water bottles, as there are no standalone shops inside.
Things to do: Bird watching, taking some phothos or photographing different species of plants and flowers or just zoning out from everything and spending time alone.
Kakani :
Things to do: Enjoy fresh rainbow trout and sukuti as you marvel the spectacular view. We can also roam village and interact with the locals. Top secret "beautiful ladies around"
Lush vegetation welcomes you once you reach Godavari. See the botanical garden or hike your way up to Phulchoki. Also, take along supplies and water with you.
