HEAD OUT FOR THE HILLS AROUND KATHMANDU

I don’t believe hai hiking is all bout gearing up and heading out to the wilderness. Grab a bottle of water and head out for the hills around Kathmandu.


Nagarjun:

Located just fifteen minutes away from the chaotic Balaju, Nagarjun danda offers an excellent day-long retreat, with lush green vegetation and even wildlife if you are lucky. Head up for three-hour-long hike uphill or just take your bike but hiking is strongly good for enjoyment. But be careful nowadays crime-related incidents mean that you shouldn't hike alone.

Things to do: Visit the Jamacho Stupa, inhale the pollution free fresh air, see the Nagarjun palace or just scream on top of your lungs from the top feels goods. Like screaming out loud.

Shivapuri:

It is the nearest national park from the Valley; Shivapuri National Park is located 12km away from Kathmandu city centre and is just a microbus-ride away. Don't forget to take along edibles and water bottles, as there are no standalone shops inside.

Things to do: Bird watching, taking some phothos or photographing different species of plants and flowers or just zoning out from everything and spending time alone.

Kakani :

It is also one of the best way for outing as it is located 25km northwest of Kathmandu leave early so that you can explore the place on your own pace. Kakani offers a spectacular view of majestic peaks, ranging from Ganesh Himal to Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Things to do: Enjoy fresh rainbow trout and sukuti as you marvel the spectacular view. We can also roam village and interact with the locals. Top secret "beautiful ladies around"

Godavari/Phulchoki:

Start off at Godavari if you want to visit Phulchoki. A mere half-hour microbus ride will take you to Godavari. Admire the Shanti Ban Buddha on your way; the huge Buddha sculpture is said to look better from a distance than close-up.

Lush vegetation welcomes you once you reach Godavari. See the botanical garden or hike your way up to Phulchoki. Also, take along supplies and water with you.

Things to do: Enjoy the serene beauty, walk around the botanical garden and collect ideas on some species.
