Kathmandu on a Budget (Rs. 200)

Total budget: Rs. 200

Take with, a jacket, a digital camera, sunscreen, a water bottle. And make sure you wear a good pair of sneakers.

Start with time
9.00-9.45(am): Live your home and catch a bus or micro-bus to [R]NAC.

9.45-10.30: Make your way to Basantapur Darbar Square for a nice cup of tea and doughnut.

10.30-11.00: Get one of the newspaper and get your butt down and go through the headlines, its always good to know what's going on.

11.00-11.40: You can climb Dharahara or either you admire it from outside. As you do give your buddies a missed call and find out what they are up to.

11.40-12.30: Its time for your afternoon nap. Buy a mana of chana and badam, and make your way to Tudihikel. It's the best place to have a lie-down.

12.30-1.30: Wake up its time for some sight seeing. Take a microbus to Jawalakhel, the hippos and rhinos at the zoo need a visit. Remember, a student ID will get you in at half price.

1.30-2.30: Lunch hour. The choyala and aalu in Mangal Bajar are meant to be th best. Take this opportunity to try your hand to photography; Patan Darbar Square is the perfect place.

2.30-3.30: Too much alone. Call up some friends and plan window-shopping in Newroad along with the fancy girls walk.

3.30-4.30: Those sausages on the thelas are tempting. Try some. Though I don't like burgers I suggest u try the burgers and chats are just awesome.

4.30-5.30: Hang on; don't try to think to leave so soon. Basantapur's night market is only starting.

5.30: It gets dark rather earlier and the traffic jams so best to head home after all.

After all this, you probably still have about Rs. 80 left. But it is only about budget-travelling! And rest of the expenditure depends up to you.
